33 Carats — an evolving identity for a hybrid magazine
Art Direction
& Design
For 33 Carats, Ateliers Coco designed a hybrid visual identity, blending the boldness of a fanzine with the sophistication of a fine art book. 33 Carats, 33 issues, 33 facets. Each edition reveals a unique art direction, its own "graphic facet", guided by a thematic moodboard, while being rooted in distinctive visual elements: duotone, iconographic collage, and maximalism. A subtle balance between nostalgia and modernity, shaping a strong and immediately recognizable visual signature.
Result & impact
Thanks to this innovative approach, 33 Carats has established itself as a leading name in the world of independent magazines. Its evolving identity strengthens its professional image while preserving its experimental DNA. Each issue becomes a collector's item, solidifying the magazine as a source of inspiration for the creative press.
